The Hottest Lotto Numbers and How to Use Them

We all have our favourite numbers, those special numbers we go to more than any other because they feel right. We know that luck is a big part of playing the lotto. But by knowing which numbers are most commonly drawn together – otherwise known as Lotto’s hot numbers – you can start to insert a bit of strategy into the fun of picking your numbers.

Which Hot Numbers Are Commonly Drawn Together?

With 52 numbers to choose from, it can be hard to decide between them all. What can you expect if you choose one over the other? Is 7's reputation as a lucky number true?

Below are lots of different statistics that may help you in your future lottery adventures. With these stats to help, perhaps the next time you get your lottery results, you'll strike gold.

Singles

It’s always a good idea to have an overall picture of the most common numbers. That way, if you’re ever struggling to pick a number, you can use them to fill in the gaps.

The number 16 is the most frequently drawn in Lotto, after appearing 263 times. The numbers 2, 30, 23, and 8 are the next most common, in that order.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, 51 is the least-pulled number, with only 21 draws. If you ever find yourself in need of a single number to finish your selection, 51 is the one you might want to keep away from. The numbers 50 and 52 are also low-frequency numbers that may be worth avoiding.

Doubles

The same pairs of numbers get drawn together more often than you might think. Take a good look at these following numbers in order to boost your chances even more.

At the top of the list, with a total of 40 draws at the moment, is the pairing of 15 and 47. Next, at 38 pulls, is 34 and 41. After that, it's 6 and 16, with 37 pulls in total.

As you can see, the jump in drawing frequency isn't a huge difference from one pairing to another. But sometimes that small difference is all you need to change your own luck around.

It's important to keep information like this in mind so that all of your lottery selections are the best choices possible. After all, with six numbers to pick, that gives you three sets of pairings. What's to stop you from picking all of the most common ones?

Things change a little when it comes to looking at consecutive number combos. They're harder to hit, but they look a whole lot cooler on your winning ticket.

For doubles, the most frequent numbers in a sequence are 16 and 17. We saw number 16 back up in the singles category and now it's also one of the most frequent in the doubles category. After that, it's 43 and 44, and then 1 and 2 coming in third.

Triplets

As we dive into the triplet sets, the frequencies start to get smaller in number. But don't let that fool you. That means that the higher frequencies have even more of an impact on your number selection.

Getting three numbers to show up together so often must mean there's something a little special about them. It might give you an extra edge with the next drawing if luck is on your side. On the other hand, if you prefer to go against the grain, you'll know which ones to avoid instead.

At a solid 10 pulls so far, the triple combo of 8, 26, and 43 sits at the top of the list.

Tied for second place are the combos 3, 30, 45 and 28, 30, 39. The interesting thing to note here is that the number 30 shows up in both of those instances.

If you're looking for the best lotto number with consecutive number combinations, the numbers change a little bit. 8, 9, 10 and 42, 43, 44 are two consecutive sequences that have both show up the most, at 6 times in total so far!

Quadruplets

Now for the even more difficult combos. Getting the same four numbers to show up with a high frequency is still something that doesn't happen all that often.

Regardless of the difficulty, there are still some quadruplet combos that shine above the rest. It's a good thing to keep them in mind any time you want to come up with your next strategy.

The interesting thing is that the most common winning lottery numbers in the quadruplet category have three tied combos.

Sitting with 4 pulls each are: 7, 11, 20, 27 and 7, 11, 43, 44, and then 16, 19, 25, 26 to finish it off.

Both 7 and 11 show up twice in these combos, which almost seems like more than a coincidence. They're all curious statistics to take in, at the very least!

So far, there have not been any consecutive combos in the quadruplets category. It's difficult enough to get four numbers to show up at the same time more than once, but it's possible.

Who knows? You might have the first winning ticket!
