PowerBall Plus Player Wins R94 Million Jackpot
A lucky ticket holder matched all the numbers in Friday night’s PowerBall Plus draw to win a jackpot worth more than R94 million. It is the second-largest prize to have ever been paid out in the six-and-a-half-year history of the game.
The winning numbers for the draw on 8 April were 16, 18, 26, 29 and 43, with a PowerBall of 16. More than 305,000 prizes were won, in addition to more than 331,000 in the main Powerball draw.
Only one player matched the full line in PowerBall Plus, and they can now look forward to receiving an eight-figure jackpot. They have one year from the draw date to come forward and claim their prize.
The jackpot had been rolling over since it was last won on 18 January, quickly becoming one of the biggest to have ever been seen in PowerBall Plus. If there had been no winner on Friday, the top prize could have gone on to break through the R100 million barrier.
It has only ever gone above R100 million once before, when the jackpot climbed all the way to R153 million before a man from KwaZulu-Natal pocketed the money with a ticket purchased online.
Friday’s win is the latest big lottery payout in 2022, after a businessman from Ballito in KwaZulu-Natal scooped R167 million in the main Powerball game on Friday 11 February.
Powerball is currently back up to R50 million, while the Plus jackpot will reset to R3 million after Friday’s win. You can only play PowerBall Plus if you have entered PowerBall. You use the same set of numbers in both draws and can win prizes in both on the same night.
Go to the PowerBall Results page to see the winning numbers as soon as draws have taken place every Tuesday and Friday night.
