Ballito Player Wins R167 Million PowerBall Jackpot
Updated: Monday 14th February 2022
A player from Ballito in KwaZulu-Natal has become the second-biggest winner in PowerBall history after winning R167 million on Friday 11 February.
The jackpot had soared past R150 million following a run of rollovers dating back to November, and a new record would even have been within sight if it had kept growing for another few draws.
However, one lucky ticket holder matched all the numbers - 27, 30, 33, 38 and 49, plus the PowerBall of 5, to land the gigantic prize.
On a special night, more than 532,000 other prizes were won, including a payout of R914,445 in the second division - the second-largest prize ever given away for matching all five numbers without the PowerBall.
“We congratulate our first big jackpot winner for the year, it is indeed encouraging to see people’s dreams come true. We cannot wait to welcome the latest winner into our millionaires circle,” said Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza.
The winner has one year to claim their prize. It has been revealed that they spent just R150 on their ticket and played a Quick Pick rather than choosing their own numbers.
The biggest jackpot in Powerball history remains the R232 million that went to a man from Cape Town in February 2019. Find out more about the Biggest Winners of all time.
Draws continue every Tuesday and Friday night, and you can keep up to date with the latest results as soon as they are available.
